DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the supervision of Technical Officer, SRHR and overall guidance of the Public Health Administrator and WHO Representative to Nepal, the incumbent will have the following responsibilities: 

1.  Assist the SRHR project team at WCO Nepal in: 
  • Developing the monthly micro plans within the broader framework of the project;
  • Ensuring timely Implementation of the planned activities;
  • Monitoring to ensure that the activities are implemented as planned;
  • Reporting, documenting and knowledge management including development of monthly/yearly plan of operation, annual budget, semi-annual and annual progress report as per the project requirements;
  • Compiling the necessary information related to SRHR; 
2.  Assist and collaborate with Ministry of Health and Population and other stakeholders for effective service delivery as outlined in the project proposal and meeting standards within time-line by:
  • Coordinating with Medical, midwifery and Nursing Colleges, Medical and Nursing Councils to implement the activities to meet the objectives as outlined in the SRHR proposal;
  • Providing technical support to assess the capacity of medical colleges, nursing and Midwifery colleges to perform as training and service sites as per the national standards for abortion and, family planning services;
  • Capacity building of the identified Medical Colleges into the training site for abortion and family planning services; 
  • Supporting MoHP to incorporate Abortion, Family Planning and Post Abortion Care in the pre-service education of the health workforce in the country;
  • Coordinating and networking with relevant stakeholders for smooth implementation of the project at province and federal level as per the need of the project; 
  • Assisting the team in collaborating with partners and stakeholders including UN Organizations, other multi and bi-lateral organizations, civil society and professional associations that are involved in improving access to quality abortion and family planning services;
  • Coordinating with the partners, training sites and Family Welfare Division in forecasting and procurement of quality drugs, equipment and commodities for the services planned in SRHR project;
  • Coordinating with other units in WCO to deliver integrated services as one WHO;
  • Undertake any other tasks/duties as may be assigned by the supervisors.  
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: University degree in Medicine with advanced training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Desirable: Masters' (Degree/ Diploma) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Experience
Essential: At least 2 years of experience in promoting health through the life course with focus on safe abortion and family planning services
Desirable: Experience of developing training material and conducting competency based trainings in safe abortion and family planning services.
Skills: Demonstrated competency in Reproductive health programs Knowledge of national protocols and standards in Reproductive, Maternal and adolescent health. Knowledge on standard training modalities in Abortion and family planning area. Knowledge on communication and advocacy related strategies and standards in SRHR. Job Responsibilities
  • Researcher’s primary goal is high-quality data collection from the identified sites, which will include frequent travel to study hospitals. Researcher is responsible for submitting the data collected to the Consultant-Research and Policy Director regularly. 
  • Facilitate data collection by networking and communicating with participating hospitals and forensic laboratories. Inform hospitals about the project and its goals, facilitate data availability, manage and maintain good relationships with participating hospitals.
  • Assist in CPSPs understanding of different record-keeping models that may exist in participating hospitals and be able to describe the gaps in records keeping.
  • Liaise with hospital staff to promote the project and on ways to improve data collection.
  • Create and maintain good documentation of the project. Ensure timely generation of reports of the collected data to the key investigators. This would include technical reports as per format to CPSP, data compilation and storage.
Required Qualification
  • Bachelor in Nursing with Master of Nursing /Master of Public Health (MPH) working experience will be added.

Program Officer-2 positions

The Program Officer is responsible for the management of LINKAGES Nepal project activities ensuring quality and effective and efficient implementation of project activities through implementing partner agencies (IAs) in close collaboration with provincial, regional and district-level government authorities, local and national stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage, supervise and monitor the project activities in a cluster of districts
  • Design and develop sub-agreements including sub-agreement amendment with assistance from the FHI 360 Nepal Country Office
  • Ensure appropriate technical support to IAs for planning, implementation and monitoring of project activities in field
  • Prepare supportive supervision and monitoring plans and conduct supportive supervision and onsite coaching and mentoring of the IAs at least once in a month to each IA. Timely share and act to solve the issues identified during the field visit
  • Assist IAs in reviewing and assessing their own performance and adjusting program activities on an ongoing basis to ensure program quality and coverage
  • Support IAs to prepare, analyze and use HIV prevention, care, support and treatment cascade to ensure program quality and coverage
  • Conduct periodic program review meeting and admin and financial review with IAs
  • Review and assess daily, weekly and monthly progress and performance of IAs and provide onsite coaching support for improvement. Arrange technical support from specialized unit for improvement in coordination with Team Leader
  • Review and ensure quality of the programmatic and financial report shared by IAs. Ensure sharing of report to relevant government (district, provincial and national level as required and relevant) in time by IAs
